Metro Cash and Carry India conducts HORECA fair in Mumbai outlet
A company official informed Hospitality Biz that Metro intends to exclusively showcase the brands and products available for the hotel business. “The HORECA segment has always been an integral part of our operations and we plan to leverage our services and offerings with the help of such trade fairs,” informed the official. The event was a part of Metro's ongoing knowledge sharing initiative – 'Chef U & Metro', this is an interactive programme that provides value-added services to the customers on areas like thematic cuisine creation, food festivals and menu merchandising. The company has tied up with various Chefs in the city for this programme.
Taking this initiative on a pan India level, Metro Cash and Carry India plans to conduct such HORECA fairs in Hyderabad (on 25 February, 2009) and Bengaluru (in March 2009) after kick starting this event from Kolkata. For the Mumbai fair, Metro enlisted Sudhir Pai, Executive Chef, Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Shaun Kenworthy, Consultant Chef for Metro Cash and Carry to demonstrate food items in various cuisines for business visitors.
